Pinckneyville School District 50 Board of Education met Feb. 22.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. A regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #50, Perry and Washington Counties, Illinois was held at the Pinckneyville Grade School Building in said district at 6:00 P.M. on February 22, 2024.

2. The President called the meeting to order and directed the secretary to take roll. The roll was taken and Kyle Pursell, President and the following members were present: Justin Martin, Michael Porter, Paul Nehrkorn and Austin Marlow(6:30pm) were present. Gideon Hutchcraft and Aaron Johnson were absent. Also present were the following people: Brian Pasero, Mark Rohlfing, Brittany McConachie, Tyson Tanner and Shari Kovic.

3 Consent agenda - A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Martin to approve the Consent agenda. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Pursell. Yes -4; No - 0. Motion carried.

4. Visitors and Committees were welcomed.

4.1 Public comment - None

5. Old business:

5.1 HVAC Phase 3 - A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Nehrkorn to accept a bid from Baer Heating and Cooling to complete the HVAC phase 3 project as presented for the amount of $113,870. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Pursell. Yes -4; No - 0. Motion carried.

6. New Business

6.1 Freedom of Information

6.2 2024-2025 School Calendar - A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Martin to approve the 2024-2025 school calendar as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Pursell. Yes -4; No - 0. Motion carried.

6.3 2024 Graduation – A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Porter to approve 8th grade graduation date as Friday May 17, 2024 @ 7pm. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Pursell. Yes -4; No - 0. Motion carried.

6.4 Budget - A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Porter to approve Brian Pasero to prepare the 2024-2025 tentative budget. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Pursell. Yes -4; No-0. Motion carried.

6.5 February meeting date- A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Martin to approve the move of the February's regular meeting date to February 22, 2024. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Pursell. Yes -4; No-0. Motion carried.

7. Superintendent report - Informational

8. Executive Session - A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Martin to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Pursell. Yes - 4: No 0. Motion carried.

8.1 The appointment, compensation, employment, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), as amended by P.A. 93-57)

8.2 Collective negotiating matters between public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees.

8.3 Student disciplinary cases 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (9)

8.4 All other matters falling under school code 5 ILCS 120c(10)

Coming out of Executive Session- A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Nehrkorn to come out of executive session. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Marlow, Pursell. Yes -5; No 0. Motion carried.

9. Action items -

9.1 2023-2026 CBA with PEEA - A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Martin to approve the 2023-2026 collective bargaining agreement with the Pinckneyville Elementary Association as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Marlow, Pursell. Yes -5; No 0. Motion carried.

9.2 Non-Certified wages - A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Marlow to approve Non-Certified wages for the 2023-2024 school year as presented: Increase of $2/hr for Building secretaries, Nurse, Nurse Aide and Building Custodians, increase of 1.75/hr for Evening custodians, increase of $1.50/hr for head cooks, increase of $1.25/hr. for Paraprofessionals and cooks, increase of $1/hr for District account payable employed prior to FY24 through termination of full time employment. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Marlow, Pursell. Yes -5; No 0. Motion carried.

9.3 A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Nehrkorn to set the administrative salary for Mark Rohlfing at $90, 915 for the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Marlow, Pursell. Yes -5; No - 0. Motion carried.

9.4 A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Marlow to approve the 2023-2024 athletic budget as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Marlow, Pursell. Yes -5; No - 0. Motion carried.

10. Announcements, Dates and Events

Friday March 1: Kindergarten screening

Friday March 8, SIP day - 1230 dismissal

Thursday March 21: School board meeting

11. Adjourn- A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Porter to adjourn the meeting. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Porter, Nehrkorn, Marlow, Pursell. Yes -5; No-0. Motion carried.
