City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met April 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members present: Tim Fahey, Terri Reed, Deb Opal, Brad Mayberry, Will Krick, and Jim Birke

Members absent: Winnie Rehmer, Ryan Koudela, Kyle Herriman

Special Guest: Kyle Donjon

The meeting was called to order by Tim Fahey. The March meeting minutes were approved as read.

OPEN DISCUSSION:

Deb Opal made a motion to allow Barb Moeller to make reservations for any park facility that does not require a fee. There is no need to go through the city council. For a fee waiver they must go through the city council. This motion was seconded by Terri Reed and the motion carried.

POOL:

The concession stand door and windows are in. Tim Fahey and Jim Birke will install them when the weather improves.

The north side of the pool house needs some tuck pointing and the sides of the pool house need repainting. Tim will get at least two bids for this work.

RATZ PARK:

The bulldozer is on location for the Splash Pad. The dirt work will be started Friday April 5, 2024. The first park benches and three trash cans have been ordered through the Red Bud Community Foundation for the Splash Pad. Mulch is needed in Bum's Jungle and the Jail House. Tim is going to strip paint off the Main Pavilion bathrooms to get back to concrete.

LINCOLN PARK:

The Chamber of Commerce is to hold an Eclipse Party on April 8, 2024. Spring workday is planned for April 20, 2024. Painting of the parking posts and block is the main goal. Pickle Ball screens need to be put up soon. Tim will get in contact with players to set up a date.

The Chamber is planning a movie night for June 22, 2024. The Chamber would like to hold a community yard sale at some point this summer.

The VFW and VFW Auxiliary are to rework the area around the flagpole with new benches, and work on the brick flower bed also.

Tim to get bids to paint the inside of the restrooms and doors. They have not been painted in a very long time.

SPORTS COMPLEX: No report from Kyle.

MUSKET FIELD: No report from Ryan.

The next meeting will be held May 1, 2024, 6pm at Ratz Park Pavilion # 4.

The meeting was adjourned with a motion by Brad Mayberry and seconded by Jim Birke.
