City of Waterloo Personnel Commission met July 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Officials Present: Matt Buettner, Jim Trantham, Gary Most, Russ Row, Tina Charron, Joel Vogt, Mechelle Childers, Stan Darter, Sarah Craig, Tim Birk, Nathan Krebel, Tony Gilbreth

1. Petitions by Citizens on non-agenda items - None

2. Waterloo Policy Book update – discussion on changes to PTO laws that went into effect on January 1st, 2024. The requirement is that that one hour paid for every 40 hours worked is accrued. Minimal impact as current full time employee policy covers this, and part time employees need to work 90 days to qualify. However, discussion around part time workers that may qualify and update to policy was needed. Discussed options, for how best to implement to ensure compliance. Motion was made by Gary Most, seconded by Russ Row to front load the allotment of hours and fold into current time off policy, for part time associates they will accrue the time as they work.

3. Comments – None

Motion to adjourn made by Russ Row, seconded by Gary Most. Adjourned at 7:25.
