City of Red Bud Cultural Committee met June 17.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Ben Schwartzkopf, Curt Guebert, Mike Rheinecker, Jeremy DeMond, Kyle Donjon

Committee Members Absent: None

Council Members Present: Bill Hanebutt, Rodney Nevois, Alan Piel Council Members Absent: None

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Rick Cooper, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Admin./City Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Administrative Officer Jill Landgraf, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Schwartzkopf called the meeting to order at 7:42 P.M.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting April 15, 2024 & May 20, 2024

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Schwartzkopf, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to approve the minutes from the April 15, 2024, and May 20, 2024 (No Quorum), meetings. Carried

II. First Pentecostal Church of Red Bud Request to Hand Out Donuts at the Four-Way Stop on June 22, 2024, from 1PM-3PM (Pending Certificate of Liability Insurance)

No action; request rescinded.

III. Chamber of Commerce Lease Update – Expired December 31, 2023 Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Schwartzkopf, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to authorize approval to extend the lease between the City and the Red Bud Chamber of Commerce until December 31, 2025. Carried

IV. Mural Guidelines – Draft

A. Proposed Mural – West Wall of the 1855 Building

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Schwartzkopf, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to authorize approval of the request from Alan Mueth and the Red Bud Foundation for a mural on the west wall of the 1855 Building, as submitted. Carried, with Schwartzkopf, aye; DeMond, abstain; Rheinecker, aye; Guebert, aye; Donjon, aye

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Schwartzkopf, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to authorize approval of the City of Red Bud Mural Guidelines, as submitted, and to wait at least six months as a learning curve, before putting in ordinance form. Carried

V. Request from St. Peter UCC to Close Street for VBS Closing Picnic on July 19, 2024

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Schwartzkopf, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to authorize approval of the request from St. Peter UCC Vacation Bible School to close Randolph Street at Madison Street on Friday, July 19, 2024, after 5:00 P.M. Carried

VI. Website Update

Jill Landgraf stressed the need to be able to advertise the RB Business Park building lots on the website. She sees a need to update the website program and will be gathering formal proposals, with the council’s permission. All agreed. `

VII. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Lynette Adams, 505 South Main Street, has a counseling business and rents from Willie Ufflemann, who gave her permission to have a mural painted on the building. She is looking forward to the guidelines being in place so she can get started with a mural. Code Admin. Mueller will forward the guidelines to Ms. Adams after approval at the July meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:56 P.M.
