City of Red Bud Planning Commission met Aug. 19.

The August 20, 2024 meeting of the Red Bud Planning Commission was called to order by Chairwoman Andrea Letcher-Martin at 7:00 pm.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Janet Braun, John Holzum, Robbie Aubuchon, Jeff Hicks, Josh Johnson, Scott Voss and Alan Lasley.
CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Jeff Mueller
PUBLIC COMMENTS: None
OTHER ITEMS
Approval May 21, 2024 meeting minutes.
Robbie Aubuchon made the motion with Josh Johnson as second. All approved and motion carried.
Discussion and interview with Matt Wagner to fill open seat. Matt Wagner addressed the board to express interest in filling the open seat on the Planning Commission. Matt has lived in Red Bud since 2005 and mentioned he has noticed a lot of exciting changes in the city over the years. He was a member of the Red Bud Rotary Club and served as president three times, he is excited to be a member of this board. Matt has a Masters Degree in business administration and has worked twenty-five years in investment management. He currently works for a Faith Based Investment company based out of New York City. Matt resides in Ward 1.
Scott Voss made the motion to recommend Matt Wagner to the planning commission with a second from Janet Braun. All in favor, motion passed. City Council will have the final say in the appointment.
COMMENTS FROM ZONING ADMINISTRATOR
Jeff Mueller advised the board Kristen Rahn has purchased the old Suzy’s Restaurant with big plans of change. Kristen’s plans include alcohol sales, beer garden and an outdoor stage, which all require a special use permit. After approval of the special use she has 6 months to move forward with her plans, he anticipates the hearing to be late 2024 or early 2025.
Jeff also advised the board that Ultra Play is interested in donating a Dog Park to be located off of Lincoln Park, behind Dollar General. Ultra Play presented the plans at the August Committee Meeting.
