State Representative David Friess is collaborating with the Waterloo Police Department to organize a prescription drug drop-off event. Scheduled for Saturday, October 26, this initiative aligns with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event will be held at Waterloo City Hall, located at 100 W. 4th Street in Waterloo, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., offering residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.

“I encourage everyone to take a look around their homes and bring any old or unused prescriptions to our drop-off event,” said Rep. Friess. “Properly disposing of these medications helps prevent misuse and keeps our communities safer. By working together, we can reduce the risk of prescription drug abuse and protect our environment.”

The drop-off event is part of a national effort to decrease the presence of unnecessary medications in households, which can lead to accidental misuse or become a gateway to substance abuse. Items accepted include pills, patches, and over-the-counter medications; however, liquids, needles, or illegal drugs will not be accepted.

Rep. Friess represents the people of the 115th District.
