FOIA Request Sent to City Of Pinckneyville Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 25, 2024

FOIA Request to City Of Pinckneyville Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 25, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Illinois News have submitted a request for specific records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. The requested records pertain to sales tax collected from retailers in the city of Pinckneyville from January 1, 2024, till the present date.

Our request specifically seeks information on three key areas: the amount of sales tax collected from retailers each month versus what was projected; the number of active retail locations paying sales tax each month; and the names of each retailer along with their gross retail sales reported for each month.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to these public records is crucial for us. This data will enable us to provide our readers with an accurate picture of local economic activity and government revenue collection.

We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request. We eagerly await a response from the City Of Pinckneyville Finance Department and look forward to sharing this important information with our readers.
