On October 7, 2024, we at SW Illinois News sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Perry County. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and sought records in an electronic format.
The specific records requested included a list of FOIA logs sent to Perry County from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024. The fields requested in these logs were the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.

In related news, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced in July 2023 the most extensive multi-year program called Rebuild Illinois. This program aims to improve and repair all modes of transportation across Illinois. Governor JB Pritzker stated that over $40 billion would be invested over six years into this initiative.
According to further details provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, ten major projects are being planned or implemented in Chicago under this program. A total investment of $396 million is being directed towards these projects aimed at improving safety and mobility on Illinois's roads and bridges. Three out of these ten projects are scheduled for completion in 2024 while the remaining seven are projected for completion between 2025 through 2030.
Under this same Rebuild Illinois program, an investment of $107 million is being made into seven projects in Kane County. In central Cook County, ten projects are being funded with a total investment of $220 million. These projects will focus on the construction of roads and bridges.
