City of Red Bud Recreational Facilities Committee met Nov. 18.

Committee Members Present: Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Rodney Nevois

Committee Members Absent: Jeremy DeMond, Alan Piel

Council Members Present: Ben Schwartzkopf, Curt Guebert, Mike Rheinecker

Council Members Absent: None

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Rebecca Cooper, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Admin/City Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Officer Jill Landgraf, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Donjon called the meeting to order at 6:53 P.M.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – October 21, 2024 Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Nevois to approve the minutes from the October 21, 2024, meeting. Carried

II. City Pool

A. Pool Management

1. YMCA Pool Invoice

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt to authorize approval of payment of the YMCA invoice for $33,978 for the 2024 pool management. Carried

2. YMCA 2025 Management Notice

The YMCA has informed the city that they will not manage the pool in 2025 unless there are major upgrades at the pool and their management fees will go up exorbitantly. The YMCA Management Agreement was a year-to-year contract. There are no plans to renew a contract with the

YMCA to manage the pool in 2025. There is no action needed.

B. Structure and Functionality

1. Repairs & Maintenance: Pool Action Items

Discussion was held on what is needed to make the pool usable in the future. Included in the packet was a list of needed repairs. Sand getting into the filtration/pump system is the major issue. Where the sand is coming from, below the pool deck or pool is unknown. Nevois asked about pipe lining. Eckart does not recommend coring the pool. Schwarzkopf suggested getting hard numbers on the cost to replace the incoming and outgoing piping, filtration system. Eckart will get more information on using a camera to check the pipes. Eckart has a quote from Germann Brick to do the patch work on the partition walls for $3,100. The roof bid is $25,000. Further discussion will be held at the December council meeting.

2. Landmark Aquatic Assessment

A proposal was included in the packet and included in the above discussion.

3. SCI Ground Penetrating Radar for Sand Remediation

A proposal was included in the packet and included in the above discussion.
