City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met Jan. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members present: Tim Fahey, Kyle Herriman, Wil Krick, Brad Mayberry, Deb Opel, and Terri Reed. 

Members absent: Jim Birke, Ryan Koudela, and Winnie Rehmer. 

Others Present: Kyle Donjon 

The meeting was called to order by Tim Fahey at Red Bud City Hall. 

The minutes of the November Meeting were approved as read. 

DOG PARK 

• Ultra Play had a successful fundraiser for the Dog Park Project. 

SPLASH PAD 

• Tim shared that Dietrick Bank donated, through the Community Foundation of Red Bud, money to purchase shade features for the Splash Pad. 

• Changing tables for both restrooms need to be purchased and installed before the opening Splash Pad in the spring. 

POOL

• Will need a manager to run the pool for the upcoming 2025 season. The YMCA will not run the pool for the 2025 season. 

• Discussed possibilities for management and repair of the bathhouse.. 

• The City Council will discuss it at next Planning Meetings. 

LINCOLN PARK 

• Pickleball wind screens have been taken down and stored. 

• Still no concrete for the donated benches around the flagpole. 

• Bathroom floors have been refinished. 

• A piece of equipment for the Skate Board had to be removed due to rust. Shelf life for all equipment is near its end. Discussion of possible use of concrete pad. 

MUSKET FIELD 

• Ryan reported through an email that the new windows have been ordered. 

RATZ PARK 

• Water fountain at the main pavilion has not been installed. 

• New sign has not been installed (has it been ordered?) 

• Terri reported that Winnie and her will walk the park this spring to evaluate trees that might need to be removed and new ones planted. 

• No word on picnic tables. for 2024 

• Terri made a motion to order at least six new picnic tables for the 2025 budget year. Seconded by Deb. Motion carried. 

SPORTS COMPLEX 

• Ryan reported the light project for diamond one will be completed this spring. 

• Queen of Hearts is in the black. Have been able to make extra payments for a couple projects. 

• Ryan met with some of the Community Foundation of Red Bud Directors to discuss funding opportunities for safety enhancements at the ball diamonds. 

• Wish list for Sports Complex 

-walk in cooler repaired/replaced 

-clean and epoxy for bathroom floors 

-bar height tables 

-acrylic windows for concession stands to help with air conditioning 

COMMUNITY GARDEN 

• Tim would like four new garden boxes for the 2025 growing season. 

RED BUD CHAMBER 

Brad had nothing to report. 

OTHER BUSINESS 

• DISCUSSION OF BUDGET (WISH LIST) 

-changing tables in Splash Pad bathrooms 

-solicit bids for repainting bathrooms in parks (to be completed every other year) 

-new playground equipment for Lincoln Park 

-at least 6 picnic tables for Ratz Park (every year until all are replaced) 

-easement behind nursing home and hospital 

Sports Complex 

-walk in cooler new or repaired at Sports complex 

-clean epoxy for bathrooms 

-partitions in bathrooms 

-height tables 

-bar 

-acrylic 

-windows for concession stands to help with air conditioning
