State Representative David Friess (IL) | Representative David Friess (R) 115th District
Rep. Friess issued a statement following Governor Pritzker's State of the State and Budget Address in Springfield. He expressed concern over Illinois' financial situation, stating, "If Democrats continue down this path, Illinois’ financial crisis will only get worse." He criticized the loss of residents and businesses to states with lower taxes and emphasized the need for responsible budgeting.
Rep. Friess warned that reckless spending has led to a multi-billion-dollar shortfall. He noted that the Governor's budget proposal includes $590 million in new taxes and aggressive revenue assumptions, which he believes add to uncertainty.
He also commented on the Governor's remarks regarding Republicans and Trump supporters, stating, "it is evident the Governor suffers from Trump Derangement as evidenced by the Governor’s insistence to call Republicans and Trump’s supporters Nazis." Rep. Friess highlighted President Trump's campaign issues like closing the southern border and deporting illegal immigrants, noting that Trump is delivering on these promises.
Rep. Friess called for an end to sanctuary state policies, zero-based budgeting, and reforms for accountability. He stated that Illinois families cannot afford higher taxes and that House Republicans demand a budget process that benefits the people.
Rep. Friess represents the 115th District.
