City of Red Bud Planning Commission met March 18.

The March 18, 2025 meeting of the Red Bud Planning Commission was called to order by Chairwoman Andrea Letcher-Martin at 7:00 pm.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Jeff Hicks, Janet Braun, Matt Wagner, John Holzum, Scott Voss, Robbie Aubuchon, Josh Johnson.
CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Jeff Mueller, Alan Piel
PUBLIC COMMENTS: None
OTHER ITEMS
One hearing was scheduled. Evelyn Sondag is requesting a special use permit to open and operate a mending shop in her home. Evelyn was sent a copy of the city’s home occupancy rules, notice was given more than fifteen days in advance and was published in the North County News.
Evelyn addressed members stating that she would like to open a mending business in her home, she will be charging clients to mend clothing and wants to insure she was following all home business rules. She noted that if the business needs to expand she will open a store front shop.
Evelyn will be starting her small business in her home. At this time the only service she will offer is mending clothing. Alterations are not of interest at this time, if the need arises she will then consider adding an additional person. Andrea advised that according to the home occupancy rules she is allowed one employee. John asked Evelyn if she has spoken with the neighbors about opening her shop, Evelyn advised him she has and that neither neighbor has an issue.
The board went down the list of requirements to ensure the protection of public welfare and sees no reason there will be any kind of risk. Matt Wagner thanked Evelyn for taking the time to follow the process to get a special use.
Jeff Hicks made the motion to accept the application for special use, Josh Johnson was the second. All approved, Andrea noted this is a recommendation to the City Council all final decisions must be approved by them at the next council meeting.

Robbie Aubuchon made the motion to approve, with Matt Wagner as the second. All approved, motion carried.
COMMENTS FROM ZONING ADMINISTRATOR
Jeff had nothing to update.
GOOD OF ORDER
Andrea asked for interest of new Chairperson, she then recommend John Holzum. John accepted to fill the position. Andrea made a motion to appoint John, Robbie Aubuchon was second. All in favor and approved.
John Holzum was the Vice Chairperson, Janet Braun accepted the vacated position. Jeff Hicks made a motion, Scott Voss was the second. All in favor, motion passed.
Andrea made a motion to adjourn, first by Scott Voss, second by Janet Braun.
