Rep. Friess recently extended his congratulations to St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Red Bud for the rededication of its facilities. The school had faced a challenging period following a significant fire on May 5, 2024. The fire, although confined to one section, resulted in extensive smoke damage to the original part of the school.

“It has been a challenging journey since the significant fire on May 5, 2024, which, while contained to one section, caused devastating smoke damage to the original part of the school,” Rep. Friess stated. He acknowledged the difficulties experienced by students and staff who had to adapt to temporary classrooms set up in the north parking lot during this time.

The rededication marks an important moment for the school community as they celebrate the reopening of newly remodeled classrooms. “The rededication is a heartfelt moment of joy and relief as you celebrate the blessing and rededication of the newly remodeled classrooms," Rep. Friess remarked. He emphasized that this achievement highlights resilience and a strong sense of community within the school.

"My staff was so pleased to have witnessed the blessing,” he added.
