FOIA Request to Monroe County IL Clerk & Elections Division Regarding Voter Roll Changes on May 29, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, SW Illinois News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Monroe County IL Clerk & Elections Division. The request seeks comprehensive records detailing changes to the voter file database over the past 12 months.
Specifically, we are requesting information on all new registrants, removed registrants, and any voters who have had changes made to their registration. This includes alterations such as changes of address, party affiliation, or contact information. The requested data should encompass each relevant voter's full name, residential and mailing addresses (if different), voter identification number (if applicable), date of birth, phone number (if available), email address (if available), party affiliation (if applicable), and voting history. Additionally, we seek details on voter status changes—whether they were added as newly registered voters or removed from the voter roll.
As members of the media dedicated to informing the public and holding public institutions accountable, access to these records is crucial for us. We believe that this request aligns with our professional responsibilities and supports our mission of providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
