City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met May 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members present: Tim Fahey, Kyle Herriman, Wil Krick, Deb Opel, Terri Reed and Matt Shields,

Members absent: Jim Birke, Ryan Koudela and Winnie Rehmer

Others Present: none

The meeting was called to order by Tim Fahey at Red Bud City Hall at 6:00 PM.

The minutes of the March meeting were approved as presented.

DOG PARK

City officials have met but no report on status of Dog Park

SPLASH PAD

• Opened May 1

POOL

• Karla Langraf has been hired as pool manager for the 2025 season. She has been working at pool

• Facebook posts are being used for advertising.

• no report if leak(s) have been found.

LINCOLN PARK

• Bob Zipfel has been cutting grass at Lincoln Park

• pickleball court are being used

• Deb Opel reported that a faucet at Pavillion 2 is broken

• Ryan Koudela could not attend, but reported that the Muskets windows have been replaced in the announcer's booth. They look great and everything else is good.

RATZ PARK

Claude Easter has been cutting the grass at Ratz park.

• poles along the drive have been pulled out and left on ground. Do not know why this is happening.

• foliage along creek bed and near old tennis courts need to be sprayed

• Two dead Redbud trees along the drive need to be removed. Hopefully, we can replace them in fall.

• Terri reported that the tree near the Ratz Park sign at the entrance really looks bad. Can it be removed and replaced?

• Parking lot is to be resurfaced this week.

SPORTS COMPLEX

• Kyle reported that Diamond 2 has a large tree with two limbs that need to be removed,

• Kyle met with The Community Foundation of Red Bud about possibly helping to raise funds for netting over playground areas. Kyle received a bid/quote of $96,000..

• mulch is a slow process

COMMUNITY GARDEN

• five more boxes were added. Fifty-seven boxes total. Tim reported it seems that two boxes have not been utilized. Will check to see if they will be used.

RED BUD CHAMBER

• Matt reported that May 2 is the first City Nights. 4:30-7:00. Live music and food

• Planning a Bar-B-Que in September..

OTHER BUSINESS

• none
