Sparta Community Hospital in Illinois has announced the addition of Dr. James Reeves, MD, FAAFP, to its medical team at Sparta Medical Office. With over 12 years of clinical experience as a Board-Certified Family Physician, Dr. Reeves will begin seeing patients in August 2025.
Jennifer Barbour, Director of Marketing & Relations, expressed enthusiasm for Dr. Reeves's return to the community: “Dr. Reeves is no stranger to our community—his roots run deep, as his mother is originally from Sparta and he spent his early childhood right here.” She noted that Dr. Reeves and his family are excited to return to the area.
Joann Emge, CEO of Sparta Community Hospital, emphasized Dr. Reeves's fit with the hospital's mission: “Known for his compassionate approach and clinical excellence, Dr. Reeves shares our commitment to patient-centered care. His dedication, experience, and strong connection to the region make him a wonderful addition to both our team and the families we serve.”
Dr. Reeves has previously served as an Attending Family Physician in Arkansas for 12 years and completed his residency training at the SIU Family Medicine Residency Program as Senior Chief Resident. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences – College of Medicine and completed undergraduate studies at both the University of Arkansas and the United States Air Force Academy.
Expressing personal excitement about joining Sparta Medical Office, Dr. Reeves said: “I’m incredibly happy to be joining Sparta Medical Office and returning to the community that feels like home.” He added that he looks forward to raising his children in Sparta and reconnecting with friends and family while serving local patients.
