City of Waterloo Beautification Committee met June 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Attendance: Chairman Jim Trantham

Committee Members: Joel Vogt, Jim Hopkins, Kyle Buettner, and Gary Most.

Attendees: Mayor Stan Darter, Tina Charron, Jordan Riley, Sarah Deutch, Nathan Krebel, Mechelle Childers, and Jerry Sickmeier.

Meeting called to order at 6:45 PM.

Agenda Item 1: Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items: None

Agenda Item 2: Approval of 05-19-25 Beautification Cmte. Mtg. Minutes.

Motion made by Alderman Kyle Buettner and seconded by Alderman Most to approve 05-19-25 Beautification Cmte. Mtg. Minutes as presented.

Motion passed unanimously.

Agenda Item 3: Grant Application – 100 Plaza Drive (The Ranch Steak House, formerly Family Video). Mr. Jerry Sickmeier, applicant and contractor for the project, was present to speak on behalf of this application. The total grant funds requested are $12,165. The project includes painting the brickwork black, installing an ADA-compliant door between the windows on the left-hand side of the building, and removing the pyramid glass tower located in front of the building. The roof and windows will remain unchanged. The building's interior will be divided into two units, separated by a two-hour firewall. In addition, a dedicated utility system will be implemented for each unit.

Motion made by Alderman Vogt and seconded by Alderman Most to approve the Waterloo Beautification Grant Application from the Ranch Steak House, 100 Plaza Drive, as presented.

Motion passed unanimously.

Agenda Item 4: Non-Profit Grant Application – Waterloo Sports Association.

There was no one present to speak on behalf of this application. The total grant funds requested are $7,500. The project involves the replacement of the field backstop fencing and concession doors. The application was accompanied by photographs that illustrate the condition of the existing backstop and concession doors. Alderman Kyle Buettner stated that this facility is frequently utilized and aligns with the objectives of our nonprofit grant program.

Motion made by Alderman Kyle Buettner and seconded by Alderman Vogt to approve the Non-Profit Grant Application from the Waterloo Sports Association as presented. Motion passed unanimously.

Agenda Item 5: Comments. None.

The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Alderman Most and a second by Alderman Vogt. Motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:54 PM.
