The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is requesting public input on the Southwest Connector, a highway expansion project intended to improve travel between southern Illinois and the outskirts of the Metro East area. The proposed project will affect a large part of the 115th House District.

Illinois State Representative David Friess encouraged residents to participate in the feedback process. "This project will impact a significant portion of my district. I encourage you to share your feedback!"

Friess, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 and represents the state's 115th House District, succeeding Nathan Reitz.

Further details about the Southwest Connector can be found at IDOT’s official site.
