Pinckneyville School District 50 Board of Education met July 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. A regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #50, Perry and Washington Counties, Illinois was held at the Pinckneyville Grade School Building in said district at 6:00 P.M. on July 16, 2025

2. The President called the meeting to order and directed the secretary to take roll. The roll was taken and Kyle Pursell, President and the following members were present: Aaron Kuhnert, Justin Martin, Charlie Woodside and Austin Marlow. Paul Nehrkorn and Michael Porter were absent. Also present were the following people: Brian Pasero, Mark Rohlfing, Tyson Tanner.

3. Consent agenda - A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Woodside to approve the Consent agenda. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No- 0. Motion carried.

5.1 2025-2026 Student Handbook - A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Kuhnert to approve the 2025-2026 Student handbook as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes-5 No-0. Motion carried.

5.2 2025-2026 Athletic Policy - A motion was made by Kuhnert and seconded by Martin to approve 2025-2026 Athletic policy updates as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No-0. Motion carried.

6.1 Freedom of Information - Informational

6.2 Press 119 updates - Informational; First Reading

6.3 July meeting date - A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Woodside to approve changing the July regular meeting date to Wednesday July 16, 2025. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No-0. Motion carried.

6.4 Milk bid - A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Marlow to approve the milk bid from Prairie farms as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes-5 No-0. Motion carried.

6.5 Walk in cooler - A motion was made by Woodside and seconded by Kuhnert to approve the proposal to replace the walk-in cooler at the Jr. High from J.C.'s AC and refrigeration as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No -0. Motion carried.

6.6 FY 2025 Preliminary budget- A motion was made by Kuhnert and seconded by Marlow to approve resolution R-2026-2, approving the placing of tentative FY2026 budget on display for 30 days. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No - 0. Motion carried.

7. Superintendents report - Informational

8. Executive Session - A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Marlow to go into Executive session for the purpose of discussing: Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes-5 No-0. Motion carried.

8.1 The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body (5 ILCS 120/2c, as amended by P.A. 93-57)

8.2 Student disciplinary cases (5 ILCS 120/2c9) and

8.3 All other matters falling under school code 5 ILCS 120/2c10.

Coming out of Executive session: A motion was made by Woodside and seconded by Marlow to come out of Executive session. Yes -5, No-0 Motion passed.

9. Action items

9.1 Six-month Executive Session review - A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Martin to approve Resolution R 2026-1 authorizing the destruction of audio recordings of the closed meetings of Pinckneyville School district #50, Perry and Washington counties, Illinois, conducted on or before December 31, 2023. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No-0. Motion carried.

9.2 FMLA request - A motion was made by Kuhnert and seconded by Martin to approve the FMLA request of Sherlyn Elefane as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No - 0. Motion carried.

9.3 5th grade basketball coach - A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Marlow to approve/employ Grant Thompson as 5th grade basketball coach for the 2025-2026 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Martin, Pursell, Kuhnert, Marlow, Woodside. Yes - 5 No-0. Motion carried.

10. Announcements, dates and events:

August 11-Open house

August 13 - First day of school

August 21 - Regular board meeting

11. Adjournment: A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Martin to adjourn the meeting. Yes-5 No-0. Motion carried.
