City of Waterloo Ordinance Committee met Sept. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Attendance: Chairman Kyle Buettner

Committee Members: Jim Hopkins, Jim Trantham, Jordon Riley, and Gary Most. Attendees: Mayor Stan Darter, Tina Charron, Joel Vogt, Mechelle Childers, Nathan Krebel, J.R. Landeck, and Sarah Craig.

Meeting called to order at 6:30 PM.

Agenda Item 1: Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items: None

Agenda Item 2: Liability Insurance.

Section 1-2-28: Liability Insurance Indemnification (under Ordinance No. 1922) needs to be updated to include several positions that are currently covered by liability insurance but are not specifically listed in the ordinance.

The positions to be added are:

• Deputy Director of Public Works

• Building Inspector/Code Administrator (updated title)

• Deputy Police Chief

• Human Resources Coordinator

• Community Relations Coordinator

These positions should be included in the ordinance for accuracy and consistency. A motion was made by Alderman Most and seconded by Alderman Trantham to recommend including the above-mentioned job titles in Ordinance No. 1922 Section 1- 2-28 Liability Insurance Indemnification to City Council for approval.

Motion passed unanimously.

Agenda Item 3: Comments.

The Mayor mentioned that he asked Secure One Self for a bid to upgrade the two cameras in the Council Chambers, the two cameras in the lobby, and the camera at the front door, as these five cameras are part of the system's original installation. He also requested a bid for adding a new camera above the payment drop box to help resolve recent payment discrepancies and provide added protection for employees. The proposed cameras would feature 4K resolution with AI capabilities. Alderman Trantham proposed purchasing cameras with license plate recognition technology and positioning them in locations where license plates could be easily read.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Alderman Riley and seconded by Alderman Hopkins. Motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:38 PM.
