Sparta Community Unified School District 140 Board of Education met Nov. 10.

Here is the minutes as provided by the Board:

PERSONNEL

The Board accepted the resignation of Sandra Eggemeyer as Custodian at Sparta Lincoln School and Sparta High School.

Brandon Lanton was approved as a Volunteer Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach at Sparta Lincoln School.

Mariah Jackson was approved as a volunteer Assistant Cheerleading Coach at Sparta Lincoln School.

Custodial staffing was discussed. A committee will be reconvened to further research the custodial hours and positions.

FINANCES

The Board approved the resolution stating the aggregate amount of taxes estimated to be levied for the year 2016 is $3,750,590 not including the Bond and Interest Levy of $875,000 and that the aggregate amount of taxes estimated to be levied for the year 2016 does not exceed 105% of the taxes extended in the year 2015.

The Health Life Safety Amendment for Sparta Lincoln School was approved in the amount of $12,645 for Installation of EIFS on Exterior Wall.

MISCELLANEOUS

Athletic Directors Rich Williams and Derrick Ballard presented the fall sports review.

The official enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year is 1302.

The Sparta High School Building Trades Greenhouse Project was approved.

Sparta Lincoln School will hold the annual Reading Night on Thursday with a special assembly on Friday.

Sparta High School is looking into putting together focus groups with students to get their feedback. Different groups will be having activities for the students to do on the weekends.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Evansville Attendance Center.
