Waltonville Community Unit School District 1 Board met March 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Board meeting called to order at 6:30 P.M. Present: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Eastham, to approve the February 23, 2017 regular board meeting & February 23,2017 executive session board meeting minutes. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Banach to approve the bills and treasurer's report as presented with additional bills of $2,217.38 (Frontier $598, Lee's $296.65, Larry's $267, E.A. Clarke $1,055.73) Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Norris to accept the Sherman Bus Service contract as presented for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Walker to renew the Illinois High School Association's Membership for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Williams, to renew the high school athletic cooperative agreement with Sesser-Valier High School for girls basketball and girls softball for the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 academic years. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Anderson, to pay the head high school bass fishing coach $350.00 per season and stipends of $25.00 for each assistant coach for each meet that they participate in during the season. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Eastham, Seconded by Walker, to purchase 5 units of lockers for the boys' high school locker room at a total price of $2,539.94. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Discussion of High Schoolboys basketball uniforms. Allen Haley will get quotes for High School & Grade School basketball uniforms and bring to next meeting.

Motion by Eastham, Seconded by Walker to increase officials pay schedule as follows: Waltonville High School Basketball Varsity from $70 to $75, Basketball JV from $50 to $55, High School Baseball from $55 to $60, Double Header stays at $110, High School Softball from $55 to $60, Double Header stays at $110.00. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Eastham to approve John McGhee as volunteer, assistant track coach for the grade school. Yea: Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Williams, to go into closed session at 7:25 P.M. for purposes of Discussing the Appointment, Employment, Compensation, Discipline, Performance, or Dismissal of Specific Employees, and Student Discipline. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Banach to go into open session at 10:55 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Anderson to accept the resignation of custodian Matt Brines. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion Carried.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Banach to hire Valerie Curless as custodian at $14.00 per hour. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, and Williams. Nay: Walker. Motion carried.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Anderson to re-hire all tenured certified staff. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Banach to re-hire Tyler Mitchell as P.E./Health/Driver's Education Teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Norris, and Walker. Nay: Eastham, Frick, and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Williams to not re-hire Shandie Haley as the math teacher. Yea: Anderson, Frick, Norris, and Williams. Nay: Banach, Eastham, and Walker. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Banach to re-hire Tiffanie Schmale as Computer/Business teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by John, Seconded by Eastham to re-hire Danielle Crocker as 7th grade teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Anderson to re-hire Michelle B. Miller as Kindergarten teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion. By Walker, Seconded by Norris to re-hire Kelsey Pogue as Special Education teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Anderson to re-hire Kari Lappin as 3rd grade teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Williams to re-hire Sydney Dugger as 2nd grade teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Frick to not re-hire Zach Ziarnek as 7th grade teacher. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, and Williams. Abstain: Walker. Motion carried.

Principals contract needs changes made and will be discussed at next meeting.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Banach to hire Gabriel Cralley as a full time teacher for the 2017/2018 school year: Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

School Calendar for 2017/2018, tabled for next meeting.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Anderson to approve Study Island renewal. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.

QNS proposal, tabled for next meeting.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Williams to approve setting up an account for the purpose of Lead Testing. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Motion carried.
