Carbondale TWP FD responds to 12 fires in 2016

Carbondale Township Fire Department responded to 15 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the SW Illinois News.

The calls in Carbondale included 12 fires - seven structure fires and five other fires.

In all, the department saw $59,000 in fire loss - or about $4,917 per fire.

The department also received three false calls.

The Carbondale Township Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has four active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $20,403 positive as of March 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,700 for every fire in 2016.
