Sparta Community Unit School District #140 Board of Education met November 1. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The special meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by President Corey Rheinecker and upon the roll being called, Corey Rheinecker and the following members of the Board of Education answered present: Bert Byington, Angela Craig, Howard Gallois, Kenneth Kempfer and Alan Young. Absent: Kevin Holliday. Others present were: Superintendent Dr. Gabrielle Schwemmer and Recording Secretary Tina Witherby.


Angela Craig moved, Howard Gallois seconded to approve the overnight trip for Sparta High School Cross Country Team to attend the State Track Meet on November 4, 2017, at Peoria, Illinois. Roll call vote. Yeas: Craig, Gallois, Kempfer, Young, Byington and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.

A discussion was held regarding posting for another para-professional. Test scores were reviewed.

Kevin Holliday entered the meeting at 5:08 p.m.

Angela Craig moved, Howard Gallois seconded to post for a Title Para-Professional at Sparta Lincoln School. Roll call vote. Yeas: Craig, Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, Young, Byington and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Kevin Holliday moved, Howard Gallois seconded to enter into closed session at 5:17 p.m. to conduct a superintendent evaluation. Roll call vote. Yeas: Holliday, Gallois, Kempfer, Young, Byington, Craig and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Kevin Holliday moved, Howard Gallois seconded to come out of closed session at 6:09 p.m. Roll call vote. Yeas: Holliday, Gallois, Kempfer, Young, Byington, Craig and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Kevin Holliday moved, Howard Gallois seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:10 p.m. Roll call vote: Yeas Holliday, Gallois, Kempfer, Young, Byington, Craig and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
