Waterloo Fire Department responded to 107 calls in 2017 - 59.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Waterloo included 51 fires - 14 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 29 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $515,500 in fire loss - or about $10,108 per fire.

The department also received 54 false calls.

The Waterloo Fire Department had an annual budget of $762,479 in 2017.
