Sparta Community Unit School District #140 Board of Education met May 30.

The special meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by President Corey Rheinecker and upon the roll being called, Corey Rheinecker and the following members of the Board of Education answered present: Howard Gallois, Kevin Holliday, Kenneth Kempfer and Alan Young. Absent: Bert Byington and Angela Craig. Others present were: Superintendent Dr. Gabrielle Schwemmer and Recording Secretary Tina Witherby.
Howard Gallois moved, Kevin Holliday seconded to enter into executive session at 4:02 p.m. to discuss items related to specific employee performance/hiring. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Mrs. Craig entered the meeting at 4:03 p.m.
Kevin Holliday moved, Howard Gallois seconded to come out of executive session at 4:36 p.m. Roll call vote. Yeas: Holliday, Gallois, Kempfer, Craig, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Kevin Holliday moved, Kenneth Kempfer seconded to employ Chris Miesner as an 11-month Principal at Evansville Attendance Center with a one-year contract for the 2018-2019 school year with an annual salary of $52,000, with a stipend of $3,000 for the Athletic Director position, subject to and contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check, physical and drug screening, along with proper licensure. Roll call vote. Yeas: Holliday, Kempfer, Craig, Gallois and Rheinecker. Nays: Young. Motion carried.
Howard Gallois moved, Kevin Holliday seconded to employ John White as a Full-Time Teacher for the District with 5 years of experience for the 2018-2019 school year subject to and contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check, physical and drug screening along with proper licensure. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, Craig, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: and. Motion carried.
Howard Gallois moved, Angela Craig seconded to employ Kayli Quillman as a Full-Time Teacher for the District with 1 year of experience for the 2018-2019 school year subject to and contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check, physical and drug screening, along with proper licensure. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Craig, Holliday, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Kevin Holliday moved, Angela Craig seconded to employ Katie Mense as a Full-Time Teacher for the District with 7 years of experience for the 2018-2019 school year subject to and contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check, physical and drug screening, along with proper licensure. Roll call vote. Yeas: Holliday, Craig, Gallois, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Testing scores were discussed. Financial information for the grants Dr. Schwemmer has written this year were also discussed.
Kevin Holliday moved, Angela Craig seconded to adjourn the meeting at 4:50 p.m. Roll call vote: Yeas: Holliday, Craig, Gallois, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
