Luechtefeld endorses Friess for state representative
Former Illinois lawmaker Dave Luechtefeld recently endorsed David Friess for the 116th District seat in the Illinois House of Representatives.
“Southern Illinois needs a conservative fighter who will cut taxes, balance the budget and stand up to Mike Madigan,” Luechtefeld said in a video on Facebook. “David Friess is that conservative fighter and I give him my full support.”
Luechtefeld represented the Illinois Senate’s 58th District from 1995 to 2017, including service as deputy minority leader.
“I’m a veteran, a taxpayer and a father fighting for a better future in Illinois for my children, and yours,” Friess said in the video. “I’ll vote to fire Madigan and I’ll always put Southern Illinois first.”
Friess is challenging incumbent Rep. Jerry Costello II (D-Red Bud) in the Nov. 6 general election.
The 116th District includes the cities of Chester, Columbia, Du Quoin, Pinckneyville, Red Bud, Sparta and Waterloo.
