Medicaid participants:
The health department is unable to bill third-party health insurance plans and Medicaid. HealthChoice Illinois, the newly expanded Medicaid managed care program, requires Medicaid participants to choose third-party health insurance plans.
This change does not impact those who have Medicare and Medicaid coverage. Medicare is the primary insurance and the health department is able to bill Medicare.
