Randolph County approves referendums

Randolph County passes both referendums on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Randolph County voted for a county referendum:  "Shall Randolph County become a Sanctuary County for law abiding gun owners to protect them from unconstitutional gun laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly?".

With 100 percent of the votes counted, 9,835 votes were in favor and 1,970 opposed the measure.

Another referendum voted on and passed was Chester CUSD 139, "Shall Members of the Board of Education of Chester Community Unit School District No. 139, Randolph County, Illinois be elected in 2019 and thereafter, at large and without restriction?".

With 100 percent of the votes counted, 3,105 were in favor and 1,925 opposed.
