Waterloo Public Schools issued the following announcement on Nov. 17.
West High School senior Madelyn Solomon, a gymnast, signed her national letter of intent today to become a part of the University of Iowa’s gymnastics team. Solomon has competed regionally in gymnastics for the past 12 years. She qualified for the Level Nine National Championships which were held in Spokane, Washington, and was an alternate for the Level Ten Region 4 National Qualifying Team. During her career at West High School, Solomon was also a state qualifier in swimming and diving and track and field.
Dr. Anthony W. Pappas, Director of Athletics at Waterloo West High School comments, “I am very happy for Maddy and we are all very proud of her here at West High School. We wish her nothing but the best of luck as she begins her collegiate gymnastics career at the University of Iowa.”
