Pinckneyville Community High School District 101 Board of Education met Sept. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Pinckneyville Community High School District #101, Perry County, Illinois, met in a regular session on the 24th of September, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinckneyville Community High School in that district. The following officers and members of the Board were present: Greg Thompson, President; Lisa Stanton, Secretary; Brian Kellerman, Jennifer Robb, Kyle Pursell, Greg Bigham, and Jeff Suchomski. Keith Hagene, Superintendent, Tony Wilson, Principal, and Penny Corn, recording secretary, were also present.

The Pledge of Allegiance was conducted and PCHS Mission Statement was read by President Greg Thompson.

It was moved by Greg Bigham and seconded by Kyle Pursell to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Visitors present: Marilyn Smith, Debbie Giacomo, Steve Williamson, Steve Tripi, Jennifer Barber, Randy Dauby, Janet Morrison, and Stuart Morgenstern.

Visitors were welcomed and invited to address the Board. Steve Williamson commented that he would like to congratulate the volleyball team for their win against Nashville last week.

Steve Tripi presented the independent auditors report, giving PCHS a clean report.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Greg Bigham to accept the findings presented in the independent financial audit as presented. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Mr. Wilson reported that we have 40% of our student body involved in a fall sports program. He praised everyone for the enjoyable Homecoming Week that took place last week. He mentioned the motivational speaker we were fortunate to have last week, and how impressed he was with the positive and respectful reaction our students gave him.

Mr. Hagene gave a brief facilities report, and presented the FY19 Budget. He then conducted a public Budget Hearing. The budget has been on display for more than 30 days.

Having held a public budget hearing and having heard public testimony about the FY19 budget, it was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Jeff Suchomski to adopt the Fiscal Year 2019 budget as presented. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Mr. Hagene reported about the FOIA requests he received this month, and stated that there were no overnight or out of state trips requested this month. He also provided general information about the upcoming school board election.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Jeff Suchomski to appoint Mrs. Marilyn smith and Mr. Bob Waggoner as Co-Department Chairs for Physical Education, Health and Fine Arts. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Jeff Suchomski and seconded by Brian Kellerman to appoint Mr. Greg Zmudzinski as interim Social Studies Department Chair. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Kyle Pursell to adjourn the meeting at 7:41 p.m. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
