SPARTA POLICE DEPARTMENT: Thank you Officer Grones!

Public safety stock 01

Sparta Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.

For the past few years, Officer Justin Grones has been my partner in…fighting crime. The two of us write most of what you see here. He is one of the main reasons this Facebook page is successful. Simply put, I couldn’t have done it without him.

Besides being an excellent writer, with a great sense of humor, he is an outstanding police officer and valuable asset to the Sparta Police Department. The Sparta Community has been well served during his employment here at Sparta PD.

So it’s with a bit of sadness I announce Officer Grones has accepted a Patrol Deputy position with the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department. His decision was a difficult one, since he has thoroughly enjoyed working here in Sparta. He and his family will be closer to where they grew up. They are headed back home. No one can blame him for that, so we wish him and his family the best!

Employees leave agencies for a variety of reasons. We don’t always write about them like this, but since Officer Grones has been such a huge part of this page’s success, an announcement and well wishes are in order. We are very excited for him!

Besides being his supervisor, I’m proud to call him a friend. We will definitely be staying in touch!

This picture was taken behind the station yesterday, at the beginning of his last shift at Sparta P.D.

Thank you Officer Grones!

Sgt. Jason Pipkin
