Duquoin Community Unit School District 300 Board met Nov. 13.

Larry Valier - BOARD MEMBER

Trent Waller - BOARD MEMBER

1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m. by President Mark Woodside.

2. ROLL CALL: Present – Brock, Riley, Williams, and Woodside; Absent – Ellermeyer, Valier, and Waller.

3. RECOGNITION: The building principals shared items of recognition regarding faculty/staff and students within their respective buildings.

4. CONSENT AGENDA:

A motion was made by Brock, seconded by Riley to approve the consent agenda. Roll Call: Yea – Brock, Riley, Williams, and Woodside; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.

a. Approval of the minutes of the October 18, 2018 regular Board of Education meeting (including executive session minutes);

b. Approval of the suspensions imposed by each school’s administration;

5. FINANCIAL ITEMS:

A motion was made by Brock, seconded by Riley to approve the payment of bills for October 2018 and the October 2018 financial report. Roll Call: Yea – Brock, Riley, Williams, and Woodside; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.

6. PUBLIC HEARING:

a. DEA Representative – None

b. Public – None

7. NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

a. The Board heard a presentation from the district architects regarding replacement of the K-8 School HVAC units. After the presentation a motion was made by Brock, seconded by Riley to authorize the district architects to develop bid specifications and documents and to seek bids for the work as outlined in per attached document. Roll Call: Yea – Brock, Riley, Williams, and Woodside; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.

b. The Board and district architects discussed potential options to replace the roof above the Theobald Gym lobby and storage areas. The district architects will be sharing more information about each option with the Board at the next regular meeting.

c. The Superintendent reviewed information included in the state school report card for each school and district. The review included various demographic information about the district, a summary of the district state assessment results, and other instructional program information.

d. The Board and Administration discussed the development of the 2018 payable 2019 district property tax levy. After the discussion, the Board directed the Superintendent to prepare options for the Board to consider in the adoption of the annual levy at the December regular Board meeting.

e. A motion was made by Riley, seconded by Brock to approve the rescheduling of the December Board meeting for Monday, December 17, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is being changed due to a conflict during the district’s winter break. Roll Call: Yea – Riley, Brock, Williams, and Woodside; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.

8. EXECUTIVE SESSION: A motion was made by Riley, seconded by Woodside to enter into executive session at 7:43 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, and performance of specific employees in accordance with 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1). Roll Call: Yea – Riley, Woodside, Brock, and Williams; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.

-A motion was made by Riley, second by Woodside to return to regular session at 7:58 p.m. Roll Call: Yea – Riley, Woodside, Brock, and Williams; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.

9. EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONNEL:

a. A motion was made by Riley, seconded by Williams to employ Lori Eaton as a Middle School Secretary for 2019-2020 school year. Roll Call: Yea – Riley, Williams, Woodside, and Brock; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.

10. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Riley, seconded by Woodside to adjourn at 8:01 p.m. Roll Call: Yea – Riley, Woodside, Brock, and Williams; Nay – none. Motion carried 4-0.
