State Sen. Paul Schimpf (R-Waterloo) said he was disappointed with Gov. J.B. Pritzker's overall budget proposal.
"It was short of specifics and high on fluff," Schimpf said. " He didn’t attach a number to the pension shortfall and there were a lot of proposals for new spending."
Schimpf said the financial situation is so bad that Pritzker won’t even acknowledge this fact, which the senator said validated his no vote on last year's budget.
"Our economy nationwide [had been] booming and this is the time we need to be getting our financial house in order and stabilize our spending," Schimpf said. "We don’t need new spending increases. I didn’t think it was a budget address that gave a full picture to Illinois."
