Sparta Community Hospital has completed an upgrade to its imaging services with the installation of a Canon Aquilion Prime SP CT scanner. The new equipment is intended to provide faster and clearer scans while reducing radiation exposure for patients.
“This upgrade is all about our patients,” said Aaron Fiene, RT(R)(C), Manager of Diagnostic Imaging. “This machine will deliver faster, sharper images and provide an improved experience for patients in our community.”
The hospital reports that the new scanner delivers high-resolution images at lower doses of radiation. It also offers shorter scan times and expanded imaging capabilities, which may allow patients to spend less time undergoing scans while giving healthcare providers more detailed images for diagnosis and treatment planning.
Jordan Meyerhoff, RT(R)(C), a member of the hospital’s imaging team, recently demonstrated the new technology to Deanna Kilpatrick from Centralized Scheduling.
The addition of this scanner complements other imaging services available at Sparta Community Hospital, including MRI, DEXA, 3D mammography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. According to the hospital, procedures that previously required travel to larger facilities can now be performed locally. This change aims to reduce delays and improve access to advanced diagnostic services within the community.
The hospital describes this investment as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing care by upgrading technology and keeping advanced healthcare accessible for local residents. “This investment reflects SCHD’s commitment to its Believe in Better promise—continually upgrading technology to enhance care, improve patient comfort, and keep advanced healthcare accessible for the communities it serves,” according to a statement from the organization.
