City of Waterloo City Council met June 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:30 p.m.

2. The following Aldermen were present: Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller.

3. Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Tom Smith.

4. Appointment and Swearing in of Ms. Mechelle Childers as City Clerk by Mayor Tom Smith.

The appointment was unanimously approved with Aldermen Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller voting ‘yea’.

5. Correction or Withdrawal of Agenda Items by Sponsor. None.

6. Approval of Minutes as Written or Amended.

Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes dated 06/01/2020. Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Heller to approve the City Council Meeting Minutes from 06/01/2020. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

7. Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items. None.

8. Reports and Communications from the Mayor and other City Officers.

A. Report of Collector.

The report is in the packet. Motion to accept the report made by Alderman Notheisen and seconded by Alderman Buettner. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller voting ‘yea’.

B. Report of Treasurer.

The report is in the packet. Motion to accept the report made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Row. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

C. Report of Subdivision and Zoning Administrator. No report.

D. Report of Building Inspector / Code Administrator. The report is in the packet

E. Report of Director of Public Works. No report.

F. Report of Chief of Police.

The scheduled public protest scheduled for June 13 went well and there were no issues.

G. Report of City Attorney. No report.

H. Report and Communication by Mayor.

1. Appointment of Mr. Daniel Hayes as City Attorney.

The appointment was unanimously approved with Aldermen Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller voting ‘yea’.

2. Presentation of Commendation to Jordan Sommers in recognition of his Fifth-Place finish at the IHSA Class 2A State Wrestling Meet.

11. Presentation of Communications, Petitions, Resolutions, Orders and Ordinances by Aldermen.

A. Consideration and Action Resolution No. 20-14 Authorizing the Execution of an Annual Managed IT Services Agreement for Network Technology Support between the City of Waterloo and the REJIS Commission for a One-Year Term beginning May 01, 2020 through April 30, 2021.

Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Row to approve Resolution No. 20-14 Authorizing the Execution of an Annual Managed IT Services Agreement for Network Technology Support between the City of Waterloo and the REJIS Commission for a One-Year Term beginning May 01, 2020 through April 30, 2021. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

B. Consideration and Action on Resolution No. 20-15 Authorizing the Execution of a Supplemental MFT Resolution in the Amount of $15,649.89 for Salt Purchase and Mowing during the period of January 01, 2020 through April 30, 2020.

Motion made by Alderman Trantham and seconded by Alderman Row to approve Resolution No. 20-15 Authorizing the Execution of a Supplemental MFT Resolution in the Amount of $15,649.89 for Salt Purchase and Mowing during the period of January 01, 2020 through April 30, 2020. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas and Hopkins voting ‘yea’.

13. Miscellaneous Business.

A. Consideration and Action on Approval of SCADA System Update for the WWTP and Power Plant from BHMG in the total amount of $191,816.00.

Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Heller on Approval of SCADA System Update for the WWTP and Power Plant from BHMG in the total amount of $191,816.00. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’

B. Consideration and Action on Approval of the Purchase of a HP 4100 Plotter/Scanner for the CAD Mapping Department from Rotolite in the amount of $22,245.00.

Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Hopkins on Approval of the Purchase of a HP 4100 Plotter/Scanner for the CAD Mapping Department from Rotolite in the amount of $22,245.00. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

14. Discussion of Matters by Council Members Arising After Agenda Deadline. None

15. Motion to Adjourn made by Alderman Buettner and seconded by Alderman Notheisen. Motion passed with unanimous voice vote. Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
