City of Waterloo City Council met July 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:30 p.m.

2. The following Aldermen were present: Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller.

3. Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Tom Smith.

4. Correction or Withdrawal of Agenda Items by Sponsor.

Motion made by Alderman Hopkins and seconded by Alderman Notheisen to withdraw item 12 B from the agenda. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen and Thomas voting ‘yea’.

5. Approval of Minutes as Written or Amended.

Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes dated 07/06/2020. Motion made by Alderman Row and seconded by Alderman Buettner to approve the City Council Meeting Minutes from 07/06/2020. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter and Buettner voting ‘yea’.

6. Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items. None.

7. Reports and Communications from the Mayor and other City Officers.

A. Report of Collector.

The report is in the packet. Motion to accept the report made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Trantham. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

B. Report of Treasurer.

The report is in the packet. Motion to accept the report made by Alderman Notheisen and seconded by Alderman Heller. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Row and Heller voting ‘yea’.

C. Report of Subdivision and Zoning Administrator. No Report.

D. Report of Building Inspector / Code Administrator. The report is in the packet.

E. Report of Director of Public Works.

There were five (5) poles damaged on Hamacher from the storms which occurred on Wednesday, July 15, and two services on James Street which were down due to tree damage. The storm started at 5:00 PM, and all circuits were fully functional by 7:00 PM. Monroe County assisted the City of Waterloo in setting the poles on Hamacher.

F. Report of Chief of Police.

1. Swearing in of Mr. Stephen J. Moravec, Jr. as a Probationary Police Officer.

G. Report and Communication by Mayor.

1. Plaque Presentation to Mrs. Barbara Pace upon her retirement as City Clerk.

2. Presentation of Good Neighbor Award to Mr. Craig Brown.

8. Report of Standing Committees. No report.

9. Report of Special Committees. No report.

10. Presentation of Communications, Petitions, Resolutions, Orders and Ordinances by Aldermen. None.

11. Unfinished Business. None.

12. Miscellaneous Business.

A. Consideration and Action on Purchase of Radios for the Waterloo Police Department in the amount of $2,535.85 from Motorola Solutions.

Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Trantham on Approval of the Purchase of Radios for the Waterloo Police Department in the amount of $2,535.85 from Motorola Solutions. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Row, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

B. Consideration and Action on Façade Grant Application from Mr. Gary Brinkmann, owner of 221 West Mill Street.

Petition withdrawn.

13. Discussion of Matters by Council Members Arising After Agenda Deadline. None

14. Motion to Adjourn made by Alderman Buettner and seconded by Alderman Notheisen. Motion passed with unanimous voice vote. Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:42 p.m.
