City of Waterloo City Council Met August 3

City of Waterloo City Council met Aug. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:30 p.m.

2. The following Aldermen were present: Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner and Heller.

Absent: Row

3. Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Tom Smith.

4. Correction or Withdrawal of Agenda Items by Sponsor.

Mayor Smith stated “Miscellaneous Business” item 12C would be tabled until all information is received.

5. Approval of Minutes as Written or Amended.

Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes dated 07/20/2020. Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Heller to approve the City Council Meeting Minutes from 07/20/2020. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

6. Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items. None.

7. Reports and Communications from the Mayor and other City Officers.

A. Report of Collector. No report.

B. Report of Treasurer. No report.

C. Report of Subdivision and Zoning Administrator.

The report is in the packet.

D. Report of Director of Public Works. No report.

E. Report of Chief of Police. No report.

F. Report of City Attorney. No report.

G. Report and Communication by Mayor.

1. Appointment of Mr. Chuck Pittman to the Planning Commission for the remainder of Ms. Mechelle Childers’ vacant term due to expire on 09-01-21. Appointment approved unanimously with Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner and Heller voting ‘yea’.

2. Appointment of Mr. Lonny Ludwig to the Board of Police Commissioners for a term to expire on 05-01-23. Appointment approved unanimously with Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner and Heller voting ‘yea’.

8. Report of Standing Committees. No report.

9. Report of Special Committees. No report.

10. Presentation of Communications, Petitions, Resolutions, Orders and Ordinances by Aldermen.

A. Consideration and Action on Warrant No. 592

Motion made by Alderman Darter and seconded by Alderman Buettner to approve Warrant No. 592. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Darter, Buettner, Heller, Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins and Trantham voting ‘yea’.

B. Consideration and Action on Approval of Ditch Witch Sales Inc. as low Bidder in the amount of $45,898.00 for a 2020 Trencher.

Motion made by Alderman Notheisen and seconded by Hopkins to approve Ditch Witch Sales Inc. as low bidder in the amount of $45,898.00 for a 2020 trencher. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Notheisen, Thomas, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Heller voting ‘yea’.

C. Consideration and Action on Approval of Federal Signal as Low Bidder in the amount of $17,107.88 or less for a Tornado Siren.

Motion made by Alderman Hopkins and seconded by Alderman Notheisen to table consideration and action on approval of Federal Signal as low Bidder in the amount of $17,107.88 or less for a tornado siren until more information is received. Motion passed unanimously with Aldermen Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Buettner, Heller, Notheisen and Thomas voting ‘yea’.

13. Discussion of Matters by Council Members Arising After Agenda Deadline. None

14. Motion to Adjourn made by Alderman Buettner and seconded by Alderman Darter. Motion passed with unanimous voice vote. Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:37 p.m.
