Columbia Community Unit District No. 4 Board of Education met Sept. 14.

Call to Order/ Roll Call

President Middelkamp called the special meeting to order at 6:03p.m. in the Parkview Elementary School library. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this meeting was held in accordance with social distancing guidelines and was live streamed via YouTube for community viewing.

Columbia CUSD#4 Administrators: April Becherer, Robert Dugan, Angela Huels, Dave Ackerman, Brian Reeves, Scott Kuse, Jeanne Goacher John Wagner, Monroe County Public Health Parents and Community Members: Jacqueline Aycock, Jessica Wray, Amy Gummersheimer, Mark Janssen, Margaret Rettle Rudock, Kelly Antolik, Kate Bailey, Heidi Sanders, Karrie Goleaner, Jeremy Lane, Nicholas Helfrich, Chris Pulcher, Ashley Bense, Jen Briley, Caitlyn Bromberger, Michele Cope Representative of the Columbia Education Association (CEA): Rebecca Alexander, Carla Wantuck, Carleigh Ottwell, Carrie Clayton

III. Public Comments

Dr. Castelli called Jessica Wheatley, Mike Macik, and Michelle Haven who wanted to address the Board regarding the returning to in-person learning via telephone.

Dr. Castelli read aloud an email from Charles James Jr. on the same topic.

Parents addressed the Board in-person in the following order: Jacqueline Aycock, Jessica Wray, Amy Gummersheimer, Mark Janssen, Margaret Rettle Rudock, Kelly Antolik, Kate Bailey, Heidi Sanders, Karrie Goleaner, Jeremy Lane, Nicholas Helfrich, Chris Pulcher, Ashley Bense, Jen Briley, Caitlyn Bromberger, Michele Cope

IV. The Columbia Education Association (CEA) gave a presentation to the Board on the effects of returning to in-person learning on teachers.

IV. Items For Action

Motion to approve Columbia CUSD #4

Motion was made by Greg O'Connor, seconded by John Long to return to in-person learning for K-5 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 6-12 to return to a hybrid A/B schedule starting on Monday, September 28, 2020.

Adjournment

Motion made by Lisa Schumacher, seconded by Tammy Hines to adjourn the special meeting at 8:55 p.m.
