Q4 2020 Recap: 5 parolees from Randolph County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were five offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in Randolph County during the fourth quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the SW Illinois News.

The data shows that four men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 45. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old woman sentenced in 2020, and the oldest was a 58-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Brian G. Mey. He was convicted in 2015 when he was 40 years old. He is now 46.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
