Village of Hecker Board of Trustees met Aug. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President Charles Kujawski called the regular Board Meeting to order. After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the following members answered roll call: Charles Kujawski, Rich Happel, Arnold Eckart, Gary Wittenauer, Wade Harrelson, Lori Amann and Annette Schreder. Douglas Van Buren, James Mueth and Trisha Maddox were absent. Douglas Van Buren arrived after roll call at 7:40pm

Arnold Eckart made a motion seconded by Rich Happel to approve the July 13, 2021 Regular Board Minutes. Voting all ayes, motion carried.

Gary Wittenauer made a motion seconded by Arnold Eckart to approve the treasurer’s report and pay all bills submitted for the month of August including Hydro Services and FSH. . Voting all ayes, motion carried.

Rich Happel made a motion seconded by Gary Wittenauer to approve up to 3 people to attend the IML Conference in Chicago September 23-25, 2021.

Mayors Report: The IML conference will be held September 23-25, 2021. Charles Kujawski and Arnold Eckart have shown interest in attending this year’s conference. President Charles Kujawski stated that he has received an official letter of resignation from Board Member Trisha Maddox effective immediately.

Committee Reports:

Police: Rich Happel just stated that with schools back in session, drivers need to be more aware of school busses and children.

Public Works: Water main extension is in and the grading is finished. Parks: the mulch was delivered and Aaron Eckart spread it around the two playgrounds. Streets: Charles Kujawski mentioned that they will try to have the streets swept before the Quasquicentennial Parade of September 4.

Also looking to October for street oiling dates.

Zoning: Wade Harrelson reported that he is collecting the usual occupancy permits and inspection permits.

Board Member Trisha Maddox’s spot was discussed and one person has shown interest in filling the rest of her term which will be from August 10, 2021 thru April 30, 2023. Gary Wittenauer made a motion seconded by Rich Happel to appoint Aaron Eckart to fill the vacant Board Member spot thru April 30, 2023. Voting all ayes, motion carried.

The Re-Zoning of 1.3 acres owned by Dale and Kay Haudrich was conducted at a public hearing held on August 9, 2021. The said Property would be reclassified from A-1 Agriculture to B-1 Community Business to allow for construction of a commercial retail business on the property.

At the recommendation of the Zoning Board to approve the re-zoning of the property from A-1 Agriculture to B-1 Community Business, the Board took the following action: Douglas Van Buren made a motion seconded by Gary Wittenauer to approve Ordinance 21-014 Amending the Official Zoning Map of the Village of Hecker, Illinois. A roll call vote was taken:

Rich Happel—yes Arnold Eckart—yes

James Mueth—absent Douglas Van Buren—yes Aaron Eckart—yes Gary Wittenauer—yes

Voting 5 yes and 1 absent, motion carried

President Kujawski stated that Dollar General is still holding to the original November date to finish and open the store.

Douglas Van Buren asked about the speed limit going south out of town once the store is open.

Some bad spots on certain streets will be looked into and fixed before the Quasquicentennial Parade.

Aaron Eckart made a motion seconded by Gary Wittenauer to adjourn the meeting. Voting all ayes, motion carried.

The next Village Board Meeting will be on September14, 2021
