Waterloo Community Unit School District 5 Board met May 16.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

I. Roll Call, Opening Comments.

II. Executive session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. [5 ILCS120/2(c)(1)]

III. Pledge of Allegiance, Comments.

IV. Consent Agenda.

IV.A. Consideration to approve the minutes of the April 18, 2022 regular board meeting.

IV.B. Consideration to approve the executive session minutes of the April 18, 2022 regular board meeting.

IV.C. Consideration to approve the renewal of membership in the Illinois Association of School Boards with respective payment, for 2022-2023 school year annual dues.

IV.D. Consideration to authorize the Director of Cafeterias to participate in the Central Illinois School Food Service Purchasing Cooperative and to advertise accordingly for cafeteria bids including dairy products, dish chemical items, and bread/bread products, effective for the 2022-2023 school year.

IV.E. Consideration to re-assign Susan Novack as head cook, for the 2022-2023 school year, effective July 1, 2022.

IV.F. Consideration to employ Krysta Schmidt as a full-time special education paraprofessional, for the 2022-2023 school year, effective August 11, 2022, contingent upon the results of a background check and TB test.

IV.G. Consideration to employ Elise Deeken as a full-time special education paraprofessional, for the 2022-2023 school year, effective August 11, 2022, contingent upon the results of a background check and TB test.

IV.H. Consideration to accept a letter of resignation dated April 19, 2022 from Emma Wuertz, special education paraprofessional, effective May 5, 2022.

IV.I. Consideration to accept a letter of resignation dated April 20, 2022 from Dalton Berg, JH social studies teacher, effective at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

IV.J. Consideration to accept a letter of resignation dated May 2, 2022 from Elizabeth Laidley, part-time special education resource teacher, effective at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

IV.K. Consideration to accept a letter of resignation dated May 10, 2022 from Laurie Baum, head cook, effective April 20, 2022.

V. Motion to accept the treasurer's report, student activity reports, and to authorize investments.

IX.A. Consideration to approve the 2021-2022 Final Official School Calendar starting on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 and ending on Thursday, May 26, 2022 with using five emergency days on February 2, 2022, February 3, 2022, February 4, 2022, February 24, 2022, and February 25, 2022.

IX.B. Consideration to approve a request from Sonnenberg Asphalt Co. Inc. regarding the use of synthetic sealer for the parking lot improvements.

IX.C. Consideration to award the bid, according to the bid specifications and in the best interest of the school district, for the playground renovations.

IX.D. Consideration to award the bid, according to the bid specifications and in the best interest of the school district, for the Junior High School fire alarm replacement.

IX.E. Consideration to award the bid, according to the bid specifications and in the best interest of the school district, for the Junior High School exterior stair replacement.

IX.F. Consideration to approve the volunteer list, effective for the 2021-2022 school year as per recommendation from the District Athletic Director, Brian Unger, and Administration.

X. New Business.

X.A. Consideration to authorize the Superintendent to enter into a five-year contract agreement between Waterloo CUSD5 and Johnson Controls, for annual sprinkler inspections at W.J. Zahnow Elementary, Gardner Elementary, and Waterloo High School.

X.B. Consideration to establish Regular Board Meeting dates, time, and place.

X.C. Consideration to approve job descriptions.

X.D. Consideration to approve the district student textbook rental, student fees, and student cafeteria prices to be determined, effective for the 2022-2023 school year.

X.E. Consideration to authorize the superintendent to advertise for new certified positions.

X.F. Consideration to approve the extra-duty assignments, effective for the 2022-2023 school year as per recommendation from the District Athletic Director, Brian Unger, and administration.

X.G. Consideration to employ one full-time High School driver education teacher, for the 2022-2023 school year, effective August 11, 2022, contingent upon the results of a background check and TB test.

X.H. Consideration to employ one full-time Junior High School social studies teacher, for the 2022-2023 school year, effective August 11, 2022, contingent upon obtainment of PEL licensure with social studies endorsement, and the results of a background check and TB test.

X.I. Consideration to employ elementary teachers for the 2022-2023 school year, effective August 11, 2022, contingent upon the results of background checks and TB tests.

X.J. Consideration to employ seasonal summer help, for the summer of 2022, at the Step 1 pay rate for custodians, per the Agreement Between The Board of Education of Waterloo Community Unit School District No. 5 and Waterloo Association of Service Personnel.
