City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met July 18.

Others Present: Acting Mayor Susan Harbaugh, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller,

Others Absent: City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Guebert called the meeting to order at 6:06 P.M.

C. Water – Aerator Replacement Project

Received two bids for the project. Korte & Luitjohan lump sum bid was $203,926 and Haier Plumbing lump sum bid was $172,000. Volkert will review bids for accuracy and completeness prior to commencing work.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Rheinecker, to approve bid pending review of bid results and final determination by Volkert. Motion Carried.

Nothing to report.

E. Streets

Nothing to report.

III. Employee Succession Plan

Nothing to report. Item can be removed from the agenda.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting June 20, 2022

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Schwartzkopf to approve the minutes from the May 16, 2022, meeting. Carried

II. Concrete Program Request (Property at Orange & E. Red Bud St.) L Mehring Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve the request for the concrete program. Motion carried.

III. Water System Operator – Recommendation to Hire Alex Bishop at Current Rate of Pay Pending Physical and Drug Test

Mr. Bishop is a Level 1 Operator.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Schwartzkopf to hire Alex Bishop at the current rate of pay pending physical and drug test. Motion Carried.

IV. Recommendation to End Jackson Nortin’s 6 Month Probationary

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Guebert, seconded by Committee Member Schwartzkopf to end Jackson Nortin’s 6-month probationary period effective July 25, 2022. Motion Carried.
