City of Waterloo City Council met Feb. 6.

1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smith at 7:30 p.m.

Mayor Smith requested that Agenda Item 12F be withdrawn

Work should start soon on the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of HH Road, Country Club Lane and Illinois State Route 3.

∙ Officer Shaun Wiegand was the 92.3 WIL Radio Hometown Hero for the day on February 02, 2023.
∙ Several officers responded to a call for shots fired on Illinois Avenue. After obtaining a search warrant, a man was taken into custody. It was an intense situation, and the officers on the scene did a great job.

1. Appointment of Mr. Mark Yeager to the Waterloo Board of Police Commissioners for a One-Year Term to Expire on May 01, 2024.
The appointment was approved unanimously with Matt Buettner, Hopkins, Trantham, Darter, Kyle Buettner, Row and Heller voting ‘yea’.
2. Appointment of Mr. Corey Zavorka to the Waterloo Board of Police Commissioners for a Two-Year Term to Expire May 01, 2025.

Kay Clements from the Violence Prevention Center Monroe County Outreach Group commented that they are giving all the schools basic information on dating violence.
The Mayor distributed the 2022 Year-End Review Report.

Alderman Hopkins, City Liaison and Board Member of the Morrison-Talbott Library, provided four library updates:
1. The library will accept credit and debit cards effective February 01, 2023.
2. Fines for late items were eliminated in December 2022. Items not returned in 30 days or returned damaged will be charged a replacement fee.
3. AgeSmart (a nonprofit organization to assist adults over 60) is now holding regular office hours twice per month.
4. AARP is offering free tax preparation on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week from February 07, 2023 to April 14, 2023.

13. Discussion of Matters by Council Members Arising After Agenda Deadline. Alderman Hopkins mentioned that the contractor is doing a great job on the retaining wall on Moore Street.
