City of Red Bud Recreational Facilities Committee met July 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Alan Piel, Jeremy DeMond Committee Members Absent: Rodney Nevois

Council Members Present: Ben Schwartzkopf, Curt Guebert, Mike Rheinecker

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Richard Cooper, Code Admin./Citty Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Others Absent: City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker

Committee Chairman Donjon called the meeting to order at 6:26 P.M.

Old Business

I. Ratz Park Rénovation Project Update

A. Estimated Budget

Code Admin. Mueller explained the probable construction cost submitted by Farnsworth. The barbeque grills should be eliminated from the costs. IDNR is suggesting that if any cost savings are needed, it would be better to eliminate some playground equipment, rather than exercise equipment. There are several other cost savings. Mueller said that the Farnsworth group has been excellent to work with.

B. Authorization to Go Out for Bids

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Piel to authorize approval for Farnsworth to go out for bids as soon as approval comes back from IDNR. Motion Carried

II. Musket Facilities

A. Additional Lighting for Multipurpose Field

Drop from the agenda until the Muskets are ready to move on this.

B. Building Repairs – Flooring and Window

Drop from the agenda until the Muskets are ready to move on this.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – June 19, 2023

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt to approve the minutes from the June 19, 2023, meeting. Motion Carried

II. Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes – No July Meeting No action.

III. Red Bud Pool YMCA Monthly Report

Mayor Harbaugh had e-mailed the YMCA questioning the pool end of the year presales; were they included in the pool revenue and regarding the salary expenditures being at 95% of their budget, through May 2023. She has not received a reply but will follow up on this.

IV. Repair Kit for Water/Dog Fountain in Lincoln Park

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt to authorize approval to purchase a pet fountain repair kit from Ultra Site, NTE $1,561.18. Motion Carried

V. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Chairman Donjon said the July 22, 2023, Conference Swim Meet went off without a hitch and there were many visitors in Red Bud. Thank you to all involved with this event.

Chairman Donjon reported that Clarence Nail said the VFW is getting close to getting a piece of military equipment for the veteran’s memorial at Ratz Park and this had been approved in 2012 by the city. Committee Member Hanebutt said he thought they had an individual volunteer to donate the concrete pad for the tank.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:38P.M.
