City of Red Bud Parks and Recreation Commission met Aug. 2.
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
Members present: Tim Fahey, Ryan Koudela, Wil Krick, Deb Opel, and Terri Reed.
Members absent: Jim Birke, Kyle Herriman, Brad Mayberry, and Winnie Rehmer.
Others Present: Kyle Donjon
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tim Fahey at 6:30 PM at Ratz Park
Minutes from the May 2023 meeting were approved as read.
OSLAD GRANT
• Terri shared the plans from Farnsworth Group for bidding for the splash pad. City Council will have to approve at next meeting.
• Kyle Donjon reported a possible ground breaking for this fall.
• The Parks and Recreation Committee request that the City Council budget money to purchase shade structures for over the benches at the Splash Pad.
POOL
• Tim reported that the concession stand cleaning/upgrade completed. Thanks to Recreation committee members, Jim Birke, Tim Fahey, and Deb Opel for all their hard work to make it look so nice.
• The July 22 Conference Swim Meet went well.
LINCOLN PARK
• Pickleball screens order is ongoing.
• Wil Krick reported he has been watering trees and flowers at Lincoln. He will research and request water bladders be ordered to help with watering the trees.
• Wil reported the water spigot at Fred Miller Pavillion is broken. Needs repaired.
• There will be a Chamber Movie NIght at the Park on October 28.
• Dead trees still need to be removed
RATZ PARK
• Terri reported the bridge needs to be resealed. Will put on our work list for Fall clean up day.
• There has been more vandalism in bathrooms. Will need to be repainted. Tim will look into the best time to repaint.
• Dead trees have been removed.
• BBQ grills are ordered and will be installed and old ones removed.
• Creek bed needs to be cleared of weeds, trees and overgrowth.
• Benches from the back baseball field were moved to the soccer field.
• Water fountain at Finley Pavillion needs to be repaired. Leaking and causing algae to grow around it and causing the area to be slippery.
• Deb Opel made a motion to recommend to the City Council to order 6-8 new picnic tables. Wil Krick seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
MUSKETS FIELD
• Ryan Koudela reported the largest concrete project (phase 1 of 2) is finished at
Lincoln Park. Will upgrade edging around the concrete pads and grass areas.
• Ryan reported the broken window in the announcer's booth waiting for a quote from Freeburg Glass.
• floor in building stills need to be replaced/repaired
• practices have begun.
• there are five teams and 60+ cheerleaders
SPORTSPLEX
• no report
COMMUNITY GARDEN
• no report
OTHER BUSINESS
• Discussion of Capital Plan and balances and goals for each item.
• Five trash cans have been approved (3-Ratz, 2-Sports Complex)
• Fall clean up date to be decided at the September meeting.
• Recreation Facilities Committee reviewed the May/June financial report from the pool
