State Representative David Friess is once again calling on the community to support his Third Annual Toy Drive. The toy drive, which has been a resounding success in the past, aims to bring joy to children in need during the holiday season.

"Last year, the success of our toy drive allowed so many children in our district to enjoy Christmas morning with a new toy under the tree," said Rep. Friess. "The smiles on the faces of these children brings a great deal of joy to my staff and me. No family should ever have to go without at Christmas."

The toy drive focuses on helping families who may have minimal or no gifts for their children. With the current hardships faced by many communities, Rep. Friess emphasizes the importance of coming together to support those in need.

"This year, our communities are under great hardship. So many have no choice, with food and fuel costs at record highs. Please help us share the joy with hundreds of families this holiday season," urged Rep. Friess.

In the previous years, the collected toys were distributed to various charitable organizations. Retired educator Debbie Opel oversaw the distribution to families in Randolph County, while the House of Neighborly Service in Waterloo, Monroe County, received donations as well. Additionally, Toys for Tots in Chester and the JCs in DuQuoin were added as recipients in the second year.

This year, Rep. Friess plans to donate the toys collected to the same charitable organizations, with the goal of expanding their reach into more cities and villages within the district.

"Our community's generous donations will allow us to expand our reach and bring joy to even more children," Rep. Friess shared.

To participate in the toy drive, community members are encouraged to bring their donations to the district office at 143 S Main Street in Red Bud, IL, 62278. The deadline for donations is December 13th at 4 pm to ensure sufficient time for wrapping and delivery.

"Show your Christmas Spirit and bring your donation to our district office," said Rep. Friess. "If you have any questions, please call our office at 618-282-7284. Thank you, and God Bless."

The Third Annual Toy Drive spearheaded by Rep. Friess is a testament to the power of community support and the spirit of giving during the holiday season. By coming together, the community can make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children, ensuring they have a memorable and joyful Christmas morning.
