City of Red Bud Recreational Facilities Committee met Aug. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Rodney Nevois, Alan Piel, Jeremy DeMond

Committee Members Absent: None

Council Members Present: Ben Schwartzkopf, Curt Guebert, Mike Rheinecker Council Members Absent: None

Others Present: Mayor Susan Harbaugh, City Attorney Rick Cooper, Code Admin/City Engineer Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Administrative Officer Jill Landgraf, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Others Absent: City Superintendent Josh Eckart

Committee Chairman Donjon called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – July 15, 2024

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Nevois to approve the minutes from the July 15, 2024, meeting. Carried

II. Dog Park Proposal (Presentation by UltraSite)

Mike Moll and Mandy Creek, UltraSite representatives, presented a proposal for a dog park at the newly donated land at Lincoln Park. The estimated budget for the project for Phase 1 is $41,120 plus utilities and lime trail, of which UltraSite would donate $34,620 and the city’s portion is estimated to be $6,500 plus utilities ad lime trail. UltraSite’s team would work on fund raising to cover the city’s portion and the plan is to start the funding raising this fall. There is also a plan for a Phase 2 and Phase 3 addition. Committee Member DeMond said that The Red Bud Community Foundation has an interest in supporting this project. Placement of the dog park was discussed. The land is currently being farmed. Jeff Mueller suggested adding the water to Phase 1 since there is already water ran to the old Musket practice field.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Nevois to move forward with the proposal from UltraSite for the dog park, with adjustments, as needed. Carried

III. YMCA Pool Report

Jill Landgraf has not received the pool reports. The YMCA promised them on Monday, but as of Tuesday, they said they are still working on them.

IV. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

None
