Pinckneyville School District 50 Board of Education met March 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. A regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #50, Perry and Washington

Counties, Illinois was held at the Pinckneyville Grade School Building in said district at 6:00 P.M. on March 21, 2024.

2. The President called the meeting to order and directed the secretary to take roll. The roll was taken and Kyle Pursell, President and the following members were present: Michael Porter, Paul Nehrkorn and Aaron Johnson were present. Gideon Hutchcraft, Austin Marlow and Justin Martin were absent. Also present were the following people: Brian Pasero, Mark Rohlfing, Brittany McConachie, Tyson Tanner and Shari Kovic.

3 Consent agenda - A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Nehrkorn to approve the Consent agenda. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes -4; No - 0. Motion carried.

4. Visitors and Committees were welcomed.

5.1 Kindergarten screening- Informational

5.2 2023-2024 School calendar - A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Nehrkorn to approve the amended 2023-2024 school calendar as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes 4; No-0. Motion carried.

6.1 Freedom of Information

6.2 8th grade class trip - A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Porter to approve the 8th grade class trip on May 23, 2024 to Santa Clause Indiana. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes 4; No - 0. Motion carried.

8. Executive Session - A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Nehrkorn to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No - 0. Motion carried.

8.1 The appointment, compensation, employment, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), as amended by P.A. 93-57)

8.2 Student disciplinary cases 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (9)

8.3 All other matters falling under school code 5 ILCS 120c (10)

Coming out of Executive Session- A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Johnson to come out of executive session. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No 0. Motion carried.

9. Action items -

9.1 Resignation - A motion was made by Porter and seconded by Nehrkorn to accept the resignation of Rita McIntyre effective at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No-0. Motion carried.

9.2 Tenure recognition - A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Nehrkorn to formally recognize Jessica (Taylor) Smith as Tenured, effective at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No - 0. Motion carried.

9.2(b) Tenure recognition - A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Porter to formally recognize Kristen Martin as Tenured, effective at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No - 0. Motion carried.

9.2 (c) Tenure recognition - A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Nehrkorn to formally recognize Emilee Tabing as Tenured, effective at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No - 0. Motion carried.

9.3 Teachers for 2024-2025 school year - A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Porter to re-employ current district 50 Tenured Certified teachers for the 2024-2025 school year as presented. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No - 0. Motion carried.

9.3(2) Non-Tenured – A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Porter to Re-Employ Non-Tenured certified teachers for the 2024-2025 school year as presented. Jessica Smith, Kristen Martin, Emilee Tabing, Ellen Filkins, Megan Schneider, Kaitlin Peradotta, Jenny Silbe, Kristina Kujawa, Will Weatherford, Madison Carter, Kadie Batson, Courtney Nehrkorn. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn(abstain), Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 3; No - 0. Abstain -1 Motion carried.

9.4 A motion was made by Nehrkorn and seconded by Porter to approve/employ Lisa Batson as 2nd grade teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes 4; No-0. Motion carried.

11. Adjourn- A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Porter to adjourn the meeting. Roll call vote: Yes- Porter, Nehrkorn, Johnson, Pursell. Yes - 4; No-0. Motion carried.
