City of Waterloo Ordinance Committee met April 1.

Meeting Called to Order at 6:48pm 

1. Petitions by Citizens on Non-Agenda Items – None 

2. Review and Approval of the 02-20-24 Ordinance Committee Meeting Minutes. Alderman Gary Most made a motion to approve the minutes, Alderman Jim Trantham seconded the motion. All in favor. Minutes approved. 

3. Adoption of the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code – The City of Waterloo Currently has some of an older version of the International Property Maintenance Code on the books. There have been a couple recent situations that would have been handled easier with the newer 2021 version in totality on the books for the City of Waterloo. The committee is looking at the benefits or any possible drawbacks to adopting the whole book. Building Inspector Brad Yearian and Zoning Code Administrator Nathan Krebel both said after their review, there was no downside. Attorney Tony said from the legal side it would have helped him in recent situations but didn’t want to speak to the policy side of things. Alderman Russ Row made a motion to adopt the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code Seconded by Alderman Jim Hopkins – All Committee members voted in favor of the motion. 

4. Comments – Alderman Jim Trantham mentioned at the last tornado siren testing a few of the sirens were not working properly. Mayor Stan Darter said the City was aware of the issues and was working to correct them. 

Motion to adjourn at 7:06 pm made by Alderman Jim Hopkins, Seconded by Alderman Gary Most – All in favor. Meeting Adjourned.
